Hyatt Hotels has confirmed its first hotel opening at Houari Boumediene Airport in Algiers, Algeria, as part of its expansion plans for the MENA region.

The hotel comprises 320 rooms and suites, which will be operated under a management agreement with Société d'Investissement Hôtelière EPE SPA.

The property will be the airport’s first hotel that is linked to the airport’s newest terminal to offer a “stress-free connection for travellers”.

The hotel is designed to cater for business and leisure travellers, with three dining venues, airline lounges, a Regency Club lounge, a swimming pool and a 2,200 sq m lobby.

Commenting on the opening, the hotel’s general manager, Pascal Leprou, described Algeria as the commercial hub in Africa, making the location an “ideal choice”.

“With a variety of well-designed work and social spaces, our busy guests can easily stay productive while traveling,” said Leprou. “We anticipate a strong reception of the property, from both the region as well as international travellers.”

The introduction of the property brings the total number of Hyatt branded hotels in Africa to eight in countries such as Egypt, Morocco and Ethiopia.
