India’s budget-hotel chain Oyo is planning to launch a coffee chain in addition to several restaurants, reports suggest.

The Soft Bank-backed company is ready to set up more than 50 premium coffee shops under the brand name The French Press, Business Standard reported.

Other F&B expansion plans include a restaurant chain on the back of its four cloud kitchens, the news portal said.

Despite becoming famous for its budget hotels, the company will be moving away from the affordable tag and will launch the premium coffee shop to take over coffee chain giant Starbucks.

Oyo is planning to set up its restaurants after the launch of the coffee shops. Talking about the restaurants, a spokesperson told Business Standard that the restaurants will cater to the office crowd and “high street premium clientele”.

Hotelier Middle East has reached out to Oyo for a comment.
