Public holiday announced for Islamic New Year in UAE
According to the Ministry, this will be a paid holiday for all government entities, establishments and private companies

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced the first of Muharram 1441 as the official holiday for the Islamic New Year.

While the official date is dependent on the sighting of the moon, reports suggest that the holiday could fall on September 1, which means emirates in the UAE will have a long weekend.

According to the Ministry, this will be a paid holiday for all government entities, establishments and private companies in the UAE.

Dubai will witness a dry day from 6.30 pm on 31 August 2019 until 7.30 pm on 1 September 2019, sister title TimeOut Dubai reported.
