Saudi Arabia will see continued growth in the hotel sector across the Kingdom, data from Expedia Group revealed.

According to officials, this growth is fuelled by increasing demand from tourists, with travellers from USA, UAE and the UK topping the list for travel demand to the Kingdom in 2018.

Religious tourism continues to grow
Data also revealed that religious tourism will continue to grow in Saudi. International arrivals to Saudi Arabia are expected to increase 5.6% per year from 17.7 million in 2018 to 23.3 million in 2023.

Religious tourism is expected to remain the bedrock of the sector over the next decade, with a goal of attracting 30 million pilgrims to the Kingdom by 2030, an increase of 11 million from the 19 million Hajj and Umrah pilgrims that visited the country in 2017.

According to officials, between 2018 and 2017, demand to the platform’s lodging options for Makkah and Madinah increased by almost 30% and 40% respectively.
