Orange County’s Visitors Association (OCVA) has confirmed that Middle Eastern tourists were among the top 10 international visitors for spending during 2018.

The OCVA revealed a total of 50.16 million visitors in 2018 according to a preliminary report on visitation, with spending of more than USD $13 billion.

The organisation has been promoting a range of initiatives to attract Middle Eastern tourists to the US region, including the launch of promoting Orange County as the number one choice for Arabic and Halal cuisine in Southern California.

During the Arabian Travel Market show in Dubai in May 2019, OCVA’s CEO Ed Fuller highlighted in the Halal travel summit talk that Orange County has 11 registered Halal restaurants and aims to grow this number in the future.

As well as restaurants, he highlighted that the Gulf region is provided with direct access to the heart of Southern California, with regular flights from Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Jeddah.

“Visitors from the Middle East travel to Orange County California knowing they will be provided both with a warm welcome and one-of-a-kind experiences,” said Fuller. “OCVA is constantly working to build unique value-added packages for visitors from the Middle East while extending our offering and reputation as a world-class destination.”
