Bali opens its first underwater restaurant: Koral

Koral, Bali’s first eatery to house an aquarium inside, has opened at the Apurva Kempinski.

The venue features wooden ceilings and walls, along with expansive glass revealing an aquarium full of marine life.

The glass also wraps around portions of the ceiling, with fish swimming over guests’ heads.

The menu consists of seafood dishes often seen in Indonesia, as well as a number of modern items.

Created by chef Imam Fayumi, the menu includes tomato consommé, blue crab, prawn and lime and a variety of fish and salads.

Koral offers a four-course degustation menu featuring seasonal dishes and a sommelier-selected wine pairing. There is also a list of unusual cocktails such as the ‘Spiced Ink Mojito’.
