Riyadh has officially launched the Riyadh Season, a cultural and entertainment programme in Saudi Arabia.

Planned as part of the Saudi Seasons initiative, 11 events are lined up for the Riyadh Season and will run until 15 December 2019.

Riyadh Season is aimed at building on the Saudi Vision 2030 goal of establishing the entertainment industry as a key component of the national economy.

Under the supervision and leadership of His Excellency Turki bin Abdulmohsen Al-Sheikh, chairman of General Entertainment Authority (GEA) and president of Riyadh Season, the initiative is set to welcome more than five million visitors to the Saudi capital.

Commenting on the initiative, GEA’s CEO, Eng. Faisal Bafarat said: “Riyadh Season is not just an event, it is an initiative to introduce Riyadh and Saudi Arabia to the world and put the spotlight on its rich heritage, culture and diversity. The hospitality, traditions, talent and opportunities in the Kingdom are second to none, and we are excited to showcase this to the world. Hosting concerts from leading international artists such as BTS underlines the scope of our ambitions, while the inclusion of several Saudi superstars and homegrown talent showcases the best of local culture on the global stage. Both visitors and residents alike can now discover Riyadh, and Saudi Arabia, in unique and innovative ways.”

The first Riyadh Season programme aims to create more than 46,000 job opportunities including full-time, seasonal and volunteer work and offer opportunities for Saudi businesses. More than 100 local small enterprises will participate in the Ana Arabiah exhibition.

The expanded infrastructure includes upgraded roads and the construction of a metro link as well as the recently-opened Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Centre.
