InterContinental Riyadh employee takes home Finance Person of the Year at Hotelier Awards

The Finance Person of the Year at the 15th Hotelier Middle East Awards went to Mohamed Farouk Ali, InterContinental Riyadh.

Mohamed is known amongst colleagues for his tech savvy and innovative thinking, which has given shape to a new cost management tool used by 40 IHG hotels spread over four countries. They also initiated a new recruitment/payroll system which automates payroll management, headcounts. The system was implemented in six hotels in KSA central, leading to significant savings for the cluster.

“The key to my story is if you are passionate, and you work hard, you can get anything that you dream of,” Farouk Ali said following his win.

Highly commended in this category was Reema Ali AlShehry of the Crowne Plaza Riyadh RDC Hotel & Convention Centre.

The award was presented by ITP Media Group’s Head of Revenue, Gavin Dickenson.

The winner and highly commended faced fierce competition from many strong candidates in the shortlist:
• Ahmed Amin, Time Nozha Beach Aqua Park Hotel & Resort, Egypt
• Jiji Varghese, Hyatt Place Dubai Hotels
• Navin Shah, Dukes The Palm, a Royal Hideaway Hotel
• Youssef Michael Rizkalla, Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai
