Al Bustan Palace teamed up with a group of Muscat’s prominent hotels to donate food to mark World Food Day.

In keeping with the United Nations’ Zero Hunger and healthy eating theme, the resort’s employees joined more 180 members from Al Husn Resort & Spa and Shangri-la Barr Al Jissa Resort & Spa, The Chedi, Grand Hyatt, Kempinski Hotel Muscat, Sheraton Oman Hotel, Sundus Rotana Muscat, and W Muscat in a food cart race at a hypermarket.

Teams raced through the store to fill their carts with as much food as possible in 10 minutes. 240 boxes were then packed and donated to Dar Al Atta’a Charity Association, which caters to underprivileged families in Oman.

In its third annual edition this year, teams managed to raise OMR 6,092 which was completed by a donation of OMR 200 from Lulu Hypermarket.

World Food Day that is hosted on 16 October every year, commemorates the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) in 1945.
