Dubai’s Emaar Properties has donated AED100 million (US$27 million) to the country’s Social Solidarity Fund Against COVID-19.
Set up recently by Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charitable Work Department, the Fund allows the emirate’s businesses to streamline their efforts towards the fight against the spread of the coronavirus. The money goes towards vital medical equipment and treatment for all those across the country.
Dubai Media Office announced on social media that “Emaar Properties contributes AED100 million, in light of its national duty towards the community and in support of the ongoing efforts at this time.”
Emaar’s contribution follows the news that its chairman Mohamed Alabbar will be foregoing 100% of his salary until further notice to help “secure the continuity of business.”
Emaar Properties’ subsidiary Emaar Hospitality announced last month it has opted to halt bookings at Palace Downtown, along with Address Fountain Views, Vida Creek Harbour and Vida Emirates Hills until the summer months.
