To combat the coronavirus pandemic currently sweeping the world, Dubai Municipality has introduced new rules for restaurants.
Until further notice, food establishments must not sell more than 50 meals per order and customers are not allowed to be in the waiting area to limit the number of people inside the food premises.
The circular also states that all seating tables must be two metres apart from one another to limit contact with patrons.
Open buffets are to be closed permanently, while tables must be cleaned and disinfected immediately upon customers leaving.
Facilities that have automated dishwashing facilities that meet the disinfection temperature requirements can still use regular plates and cutlery, but others should use disposable materials.
Dubai Municipality also suggests that restaurants should increase takeaway and home delivery orders (with adequate safety precautions).
Bars within restaurants have already been closed, along with standalone bars, lounges, and nightclubs in Dubai.
