Etihad Airways CEO Tony Douglas has made a statement on how the Abu Dhabi carrier is tackling the current situation.
Douglas explained: “We [Etihad] will go absolutely out of our way to make sure we can reassure you in how we look after your travel needs.”
He continued that Etihad’s website contains all the latest travel restrictions and travel guidelines, urging customers to use the website to stay as informed as possible.
Though airlines across the globe have been reporting lowered demand amid the coronavirus situation, Douglas said: “Afterwards, when we all want to get back to our normal lives, we want to travel, Etihad will still be there to make sure that it’s the best possible way that you can enjoy that experience.”
In terms of initiatives to counteract slumped demand and uncertainty around travel, Douglas highlighted Etihad would not change anyone’s loyalty tier status, even if they have not been flying recently.
Last week, Etihad introduced a credit scheme allowing passengers to cancel flights for free and then use the booking to be used as credit on a future trip.
