All customers who have placed bookings at either of the properties will be able to change their booking date, refunded in full or be recommended to a nearby hotel in the area.
Meydan Hotels explained the decision was made in light of the evolving COVID-19 situation and it will use the time to deep clean the hotels, refresh amenities and make other improvements to boost guest satisfaction.
The Meydan Hotel hotel manager Mohamed Shawky said: “These are incredibly difficult times for us all. While we are temporarily closing our doors with a heavy heart, we know that this is the right decision to ensure the health and safety of our community. We are working very closely with local authorities as the situation evolves and very much look forward to reopening our doors next month. In the meantime, we urge everyone to stay home, stay safe and make healthy choices.”
Bab Al Shams Desert Resort and Spa hotel manager Ziad Sleiman added: “During this unprecedented period, our thoughts are with our guests and staff. We have chosen to use this time to carry out essential works and maintenance at both properties, so that when we reopen, we will continue to provide seamless, five-star, experiences to higher standards for all of our guests. We will remain optimistic, work together to overcome this crisis and look forward to welcoming our communities, local residents and tourist back with warmth and care.”The closure of the two hotels follows news yesterday that Emaar Hospitality has opted to halt bookings at three more of its properties in Dubai.
