Dubai Marriott Harbour Hotel & Suites has appointed Darin Davies as its hotel manager as of August 4, 2019. Davies graduated in hotel management from the University of Johannesburg and in 2001; he started his hospitality career with Marriott in London.
Accor has appointed Marc Dardenne as chief operating officer, luxury brands, Europe. The hotelier moves from his previous role as chief operating officer of Amaala, an ultra-luxury resort destination project on the Red Sea sponsored by the Public Investment Fund. Prior to that role, he was the former interim CEO and chief operating officer at Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts in Dubai.
Al Ain Rotana has appointed Wissam Al Shater as its director of food and beverage. Al Shater has 15 years of professional experience in the culinary field. Prior to his appointment at the five-star property, he was a cluster food and beverage manager for Centro Capital Center and Capital Center Arjaan by Rotana.
Kempinski Hotels has appointed Roberto Simone as the general manager in charge of the luxury city hotel, Villa Rosa Kempinski, and the high-end tented camp in Masai Mara, Olare Mara Kempinski. An Italian native, Simone has a wealth of experience that comes from working for luxury hospitality brands such as JW Marriott, Anantara Hotels & Resorts and Silversea Six Star Cruise Line, among many others.
India's Oyo Hotels and Homes has appointed Dr. Mandar Vaidya as the chief executive officer for Southeast Asia and the Middle East, effective August 1, 2019. A seasoned professional with more than 15 years of experience, Dr. Vaidya will be responsible for driving business growth for Oyo in these two regions, which include markets like Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, UAE, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
