The Dubai Food Festival Beach Canteen opened on February 27, where 16 city restaurants have their own pop-up venues at three beach locations - Jumeirah 1 Open Beach, Kite Beach and Sunset Beach - until March 8.
Built from refurbished cargo containers, the Beach Canteen, which is open from noon till 11pm, includes a diverse range of cuisines - Emirati, Mexican, Egyptian, International, Italian, French, and Japanese.
Her Excellency Laila Mohammed Suhail CEO, Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment, said: “The response to the Dubai Food Festival has been phenomenal with an opening weekend that saw both the Dubai Food Carnival and Grand Kerala Festival welcome thousands of food fans from near and far.
"As diners continue to savour the full and appetizing line-up of events that are taking place across the Emirate, the Dubai Food Festival Beach Canteen further will complement the programme as it creates a place for friends and family to relax and enjoy great food and great company in an amazing setting.
"It extends the Dubai Food Festival atmosphere to some of the city’s most iconic beaches and we’re excited to see the response.”
Jumeirah 1 Open Beach’s pop-ups will have a festival-like atmosphere that includes arts & crafts and communal dining on picnic tables. Fare to choose from includes light bites and gourmet coffee at Cafe2Go, French crepes at La Creparis, mana'eesh with a twist at Lebaneesh and bread buns at Roti Mum Café.
On Kite Beach, the atmosphere will be energetic and creative with DJs, graffiti art, table tennis, and free yoga on offer. Diners can pick international cuisine from Bikers Café, gourmet coffee and light fare from Coffeol, shawarma from Extreme Shawarma, Italian cuisine from Giolitti, traditional Egyptian from Hadoota Masreya, modern Mexican from Loca, healthy salads from Saladicious, American favourites from Power Burger, and fresh seafood from Seaview.
At Sunset Beach, the ambience will be inspired by the region with Arabic music, lighting and traditional and luxury décor. Upholding this will be Emirati selections from Barjeel, sushi and Japanese grill from Kyo Café, French cuisine from La Provence, French pastries and fare from Ines Paris and fresh coffee from Raw Coffee.
