Barakat opened its first value addition processing plant called 'Barakat Quality Plus' in Jebel Ali in 2002 to cater to the hospitality and retail industry. This 100,000 sq ft plant is dedicated to producing freshly pressed juices (without additives) and vacuum packed fresh cut vegetable and fruit products in a rigorously sanitised environment.
In order to increase capacity and keep up with the growing demands of hotels, flight catering, retail business and existing customers, Barakat inaugurated the extension to the first factory- Barakat Quality Plus- Phase II on February 4th 2012 in Dubai Industrial City.
This annex is intended for the production of fresh fruit and vegetable salads, and fresh cut vegetables and fruits.
Barakat Quality Plus produces delicious juices and smoothies ? made daily from fresh fruit and vegetable.
All raw materials are temperature controlled once they enter the facility and products are maintained between 2-4 degrees celsius.
If genuinely fresh juice is kept at 1 degree above optimum for just one hour, it removes two hours of its 'fresh life'.
Barakat also delivers chopped fruits and vegetables, salads, steamed vegetables and variety of other products made from fresh produce.
Barakat processes over 65 tonnes of 100 different types of fruit and veg daily. This includes 25 tonnes of oranges and 18 tonnes of vegetables - many of which are hand peeled or manually cut.
It takes four minutes to convert fruit to juice. The Barakat factory has the capacity to produce 25000 litres a day of fresh citrus fruit juice.
Every batch is tested in Barakat's own lab to begin with and is then followed up by an independent off-site lab analysis.
