The fourth edition of the Leadership Excellence for Women Awards and Symposium (LEWAS) has been launched in Bahrain.
Under the guidance of Reem Al Ghanim, HR leader, Saudi Aramco, LEWAS began in 2013 with the objective to empower, engage and elevate women. Since its inception, it has recognised and honoured men and women who are not only making a mark in the energy industry but who are also advocates for gender diversity in the GCC.
The LEWAS Symposium will be held on October 25th2018 at the Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre as a co-located event of the Gulf Downstream Association (GDA) International Downstream Conference and Exhibition. The objective of the symposium is to celebrate professional achievements, learn from well-respected experts, have an opportunity to network and improve upon knowledge.
In addition to opening remarks delivered by Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Oil, the symposium will cover key topics that aim at different aspects of gender diversity. LEWAS will offer a range of panellists providing their insights into gender diversity specifically in the energy industry.
One presentation will look at sharing successful stories about advancing women in downstream. This will be led by Abdulaziz Al Judaimi, senior VP Downstream, Saudi Aramco.
Meanwhile, the ‘winning women’ panel, themed at gender diversity accomplishments, aims at highlighting the opportunities for women in the downstream industry. This panel, moderated by Najla Baeshen, Saudi Aramco, is led by Fatema Moosa, supervisor at the Gulf Petrochemicals Industries Company.
Another feature will be a talk show moderated by Eithne Treanor, managing director, E Treanor Media and led by a group including Mae Al Mozaini, manager, Research & Advisory Corporate Affairs at Saudi Aramco and Muna Al Suwaidi, VP, Human Capital Division, ADNOC Refining.
