Borouge and Borealis showcased their latest cutting-edge solutions for advanced insulation and protection of energy cable applications at the Middle East Electricity 2018, focusing on introducing their unique cross-linkable polyethylene (XLPE) solutions for high voltage, medium voltage and low voltage applications which gained the interest of cable manufacturers.
Held at the Dubai World Trade Centre during 6-8 March 2018, the Middle East Electricity exhibition featured the participation of Borouge and Borealis in a joint stand. Both companies had the chance to highlight success in producing and marketing their XLPE materials over the past year.
Produced at Borouge's state-of-the-art XLPE plant in Ruwais, the XLPE solutions create value to energy cable manufacturers and customers due to its outstanding properties and characteristics.
“Our new XLPE materials have proven their unique benefits, durability and ultimate compatibility with the highest standards of energy industry. These UAE-produced materials have succeeded in building a strong track record due to its reliability, strength and flexibility as the most unique XLPE compounds produced under the world-renowned Borlink™ and Visico™/Ambicat™ technologies and for the first time outside Europe,” said Ahmed Al Shamsi, senior vice president, regional MEAE, Borouge.
“Our customers in the energy sector across the Middle East and Asia have already started to reap the significant benefits from the commercial availability of our Ruwais made XLPE grades for Borlink and soon to come on stream for Visico/Ambicat in 2018, especially in terms of enhanced consistency, improved material supply and availability.”
Used to make plastic insulation materials for low voltage up to high voltage power cables, the XLPE materials are the first of its kind to be produced in the UAE using the same exact advanced Borlink and Visico/Ambicat technology platforms used in Borealis' plant in Stenungsund, Sweden. These compounds enable cable companies to manufacture quality end products in accordance with the highest industry standards.
Borouge’s and Borealis’ solutions for energy cable applications have a long track record with almost 50 years of experience in underground cables which makes it a unique achievement in the industry. Borouge also develops special innovative grades that are used inside homes to prevent the spread of fires and safeguard residents.
“The Middle East Electricity exhibition provides a key opportunity to engage our customers in the Middle East region, assess their needs and introduce them to our latest products tailored to meet the evolving needs of the global energy industry,” said Roland Janssen, vice president marketing centre energy, Borouge. “We will continue to provide the local and regional markets with sustainable solutions that create value through their optimal processing characteristics, minimal maintenance requirements, lower installation costs, longer product lifetimes and increased safety.”
