As a result of consistent campaigns and stringent regulations by government and industry bodies as well as internal HSE endeavours of the operators and contractors, energy industry is becoming an increasingly safer place to work. This is demonstrated by the declining number of incidents, injuries and illnesses in the industry.After the implementation of Safety Performance Assessment System by Kuwait National Petroleum Company, significant improvements were achieved by the company resulting in reduction in the number of excavation related incidents and non-compliances; increased awareness of areas for improvement; increased awareness of HSE requirements among operations and maintenance personnel; and reduction of Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate and Lost Time Injury Severity Rate.
