The award for the best Operational Excellence Strategy of the Year endeavours to recognise the most innovative and ambitious operational excellence initiative in the regional industry. After a time, the oil wells cannot continue to produce due to different reasons, mainly downhole pressure decline, or the downhole artificial lift equipment failure. Therefore, workover jobs are required to install artificial lift equipment, or to replace the failed installed artificial lift. In addition, these workover jobs face some problems and difficulties due to location constrains since some of these wells are located in residential areas. Because of these challenges, the company cannot bring these oil wells back to production.
As an initiative, a complete integrated excellence programme was established by Kuwait Oil Company to tackle these challenges from reservoir, completion, artificial lift, and production prospective. By utilising this initiative, the company brought back into production many wells, reflecting an increase in daily oil production of a certain field by around 20,000 barrels of oil per day.“We, in Kuwait Oil Company, are very proud to be part of this ceremony, where we are sure all of these projects and initiatives will add to the industry,” said Abdulaziz Ali Najaf, team leader, artificial lift S&EK/WK, well surveillance group, Kuwait Oil Company.
The ‘highly commended’ nomination in this category is for SATORP for its Operational Excellence Programme.
