One of the key impeding issues in front of the Middle East downstream industry, which needs short-term, mid-term and long-term solutions, is the current status of talent development in region. Massive projects being developed in the region need a large number of highly skilled engineers to implement the projects, and later to run the plants. Local talent shortage is a serious concern in the region for major project owners, EPC contractors and technology providers.

Mubadala Investment Company’s Future Energy Leaders Programme has been developed to support the career journey of Emirati youth within the petroleum and petrochemicals platform of the company. The programme’s mission is to advance UAE talent, boost the local workforce, and equip young Emiratis with crucial business and industrial skills for upward career progression.

Ultimately, the programme looks at enabling Emiratis to become a driving force of the UAE's economic development. The programme provides participants with the opportunity to learn and understand industry operations, gain local market experience, get exposure to new international business cultures and have the opportunity to build a global network.

"We are delighted and honoured that our ongoing efforts in championing the future energy leaders of Mubadala and our talent development programme have been recognised by the industry. Our aim is to create the right environment for our young talent to excel and take charge of their career journey through the various opportunities presented in this tailored programme. We are confident that this award will serve as another milestone in attracting and retaining the best talent of the UAE and contribute further to our Emiratisation efforts," said Jasem Ali Al Teneiji, senior specialist – Emiratisation, Mubadala Investment Company.

The ‘highly commended’ nomination in this category is for Halliburton for its Talent Development for MENA initiative.
