UAE-based biodiesel producer Neutral Fuels won Energy Supply Chain Management of the Year at the 2017 Logistics Middle East Awards.
Neutral Fuels won Energy Supply Chain Management of the Year at the Logistics Middle East Awards 2017 in recognition of its ground breaking work in making renewable energy a feasible part of the supply chain in the region.
“We’re absolutely delighted to win this award, it’s been six years since we started production here and it’s been a daily struggle,” said Karl Feilder, chairman and CEO, Neutral Fuels. “Last year we grew 40% though, and this year we’re going to double, and it’s astounding the level of uptake. It’s lovely to be recognised.”
Neutral Fuels takes used cooking oil from fast food companies and restaurants in the UAE and converts it into biodiesel for logistics companies. It is a supplier for McDonalds UAE’s biodiesel fleet in the UAE, which has run more than 5-million kilometres on the renewable fuel.
“We have completely changed the way that anyone does biofuels anywhere in the world, we’ve disintermediated the supply chain on both ends and we’ve ended up with an extremely efficiency closed loop system, that also allows us to give our clients greater visibility in terms of where the supplies come from and their quality,” added Feilder.
