The UAE’s Ministry of Infrastructure Development has announced the launch of a new toll-free number that motorists and fleet operators and their drivers can use to report any complaints related to federal roads in the UAE.
The service is expected to be used primarily for the reporting of pot holes, sand encroachment onto roads and broken signage. The number to call is 800 88889, according to an Instagram post shared by the Ministry.
From piles of sand to water-logged roads, the ministry explained that residents can call the toll-free number to report any damage to roads, which includes projects carried out by the authority in the northern emirates such as Sharjah and Fujairah.
Last March, His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced an AED1-billion infrastructure development project in Fujairah.
The allocation came as part of the 2017-2021 five-year plan being implemented by the Ministry of Infrastructure Development on the eastern coast.
The Ministry of Infrastructure is also responsible for the Emirates Road and the Maleha highway expansions in Sharjah launched in 2018 in a bid to reduce traffic congestion.
