Yu Tao, the chief executive officer of China State Engineering and Construction Middle East (CSCEC ME) says the Etihad Rail Stage 2's Package A contract is an exciting win for the company following several rounds of tenders.

“This year, the Etihad Rail package has made us quite excited – we [...] spent more than six years and joined three rounds of tender exercises [for the project],” Tao told Construction Week Online.

“Finally we have won the contract and started construction. I think this is a new chapter and we are very excited.”

CSCEC ME is working on major rail construction projects in the UAE, including parts of the 1,200km federal Etihad Rail project.

CSCEC ME was awarded Etihad Rail Stage 2's Package A contract in a joint venture with South Korea's SK Engineering & Construction in March 2019.
