The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) in Abu Dhabi and Lulu Group International signed a Memorandum of Understanding to start selling Hafilat Cards in all Lulu shops in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi starting from Wednesday July 3, 2019.
This is in aim of improving the level of services offered to bus users and enhancing the cooperation between the public and private sectors.
The MoU was signed by Mohammed Hamad Al Muhairi, the executive director of the Public Transport Sector at ITC and Abu Baker T.P., regional director of Lulu Group. The signing ceremony was attended by many officials from both entities.
To facilitate the delivery of services, Hafilat smart cards will be sold in Lulu shops across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra Region at a cost of AED 40 (AED 10 for the card fee and AED 30 as a balance).
“The MoU symbolizes the cooperation between public and private sectors to facilitate the services offered to the public and meet their demands. This cooperation encourages the use of public transport modes because of the variety of bus services available in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi,” Al Muhairi said.
Hafilat smart cards allow public buses users to pay for their commutes fares on board by deducting the fee from the users’ card balance after swiping the card when boarding and descending from the bus. Hafilat cards can be topped up with a maximum amount of AED 150.
Users can recharge Hafilat cards online on the Department of Transport’s website https://dot.gov.abudhabi or Darb https://hafilat.darb.ae/.
Additionally, users can recharge their cards in Ticket Sale Offices, Ticket Vending Machines or Swift Reloader Machines that are available in bus stations, bus shelters and shopping malls along with on board intercity buses.
