The UAE Telecommunications Regulatory Authority has today launched a new portal that will enable one-stop online business registration across the country.
The Bashr portal will enable a user to register a business in just fifteen minutes, through a single online portal, with no need to visit any service centres.
The project was headed by the TRA, with participation from Economic departments in all Emirates, the Emirates Identity Authority, chambers of commerce and more, with over 50 entities involved.
The new portal is intended to provide another channel to businesses who wish to register, in addition to the smart portals offered already. The first stage will open up registration for businesses in Ras Al-Khaimah, Ajman and Fujairah, and will be launched for other emirates in due course.
Along with business registration, Bashr also provides a newly-licensed business with automatic membership of the relevant chamber of commerce, the business identity card and documentation, and also automatically provides a set quote of visas for staff of the new business.
The portal is also supported with digital documentation and signing of documents, so that all paperwork can be done remotely.
In the next stage of the project, it is planned to add more services including renewal of documents, opening of bank accounts, VAT registration, internet and telephone connection and business real estate location to Bashr.
HE Hamad Obaid Al Mansouri, TRA Director General, said: "Bashr initiative is based on the UAE vision to enhance the business environment to build a competitive, knowledge-based economy. As a result, it focuses on the UAE becoming the economic, touristic and commercial capital for more than two billion people by providing and developing specific world-class initiatives with international standards and a stimulating regulatory environment that attracts investments. He noted that the initiative contributes to the achievement of the objectives of the National Agenda for UAE Vision 2021, and has been adopted based on the results of the annual meetings of the UAE government through the theme of smart services.
HE added: "This initiative is part of the directives of the supreme leadership highlighting the need to shape the future to ensure sustainability, competitiveness and leadership of our beloved country and the prosperity of the business community. The process for setting up businesses will be quick and easy and will override any cumbersome procedures. The initiative operates on a comprehensive, nationwide scale, involving federal and local actions, thus reflecting the scale of partnership in the delivery of the same between various federal and local government entities, especially economic development departments in the UAE.
"On this occasion, I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to our colleagues in the various relevant entities, who worked hand in hand, succeeded in overcoming many challenges and determined to meet the high expectations of their wise leadership."
