Saudi Telecom (STC) has launched its new data centre in Riyadh.

The opening was held in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Khalid Al-Faisal Al-Saud, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Haitham Alohaly, Deputy Miniser of CIT.

STC Group CEO Nasser Al Nasser said that the data centre will support STC in delivering digital services to the private sector, particularly in cloud computing, cybersecurity, data analytics and smart cities, in line with the Vision 2030 for the Kingdom. He added that the data centre has advanced technology and capability, and will be one of the cornerstones of digital transformation in the Kingdom.

The data centre, which is in the Al-Nakheel district of Riyadh, had been ranked as a Tier IV data centre for design, construction and operation.

With the launch of the new data centre, STC claims it will have the largest capacity for data centres in the Middle East, as well as hosting the largest public and private cloud services in the region.
