Now looking to capture the growing podcast market, Apple according to Bloomberg reports is reportedly planning to fund the creation of original podcast content from third parties exclusive to its platform.
The move has been done to compete with popular platforms such as Spotify and Sticher who currently fund exclusive podcast content. Bloomberg reports that Apple executives have been talking to media companies to acquire exclusive rights in the planning and conceptualizing stage.
Apple is slated to release its own TV service, Apple+ come this fall. The company has been making a few inroads to helping both customers and content creators by seperating the podcasts app into its own ecosystem. While Apple has enjoyed being a content provider, it's not overlooking Spotify that's slowly eating into their audience share.
Apple didn't offer comment on release of the news.
