Samsung, in a tweet, recommends scanning QLED TVs for viruses

Samsung may have made a pretty worse case about owning a Smart TV.

The company's US twitter support account shared a video this week with a tutorial on how users can users can scan their smart TVs for viruses without specifying why or why the process isn't automated unless manually triggered. The tweet didn't last for long and was shortly deleted after upload but this is the internet and the tweet had been shared by a lot of concerned users. The original text from the  tweet is below

Scanning your computer for malware viruses is important to keep it running smoothly. This also is true for your QLED TV if it's connected to Wi-Fi!   Prevent malicious software attacks on your TV by scanning for viruses on your TV every few weeks. Here's how ??

On being asked why, the account replied on Twitter stating that the video was posted for customer's education and to have it as a troubleshooting step.

Like any device that connects to the Internet, it's susceptible to attacks, and if you're concerned about your TV catching something, then you can do the scan by going to"settings" then "general." When you're in that menu -> system manager -> smart security scan. The built anti-virus software, yes there's one, will scan your TV. This setting applies to all smart TV's.
