Oman's Public Authority for Electricity and Water (Diam) has extended the bidding deadline for a major transmission pipeline project in the Al Sharqiyah Governorate.

Diam has extended the bid submission date to 4 March 2019 from original deadline of 29 December 2018. Documents can be obtained till 26 December 2018, according to a public notice.

The project, scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2022, consists of water transmission facilities connecting Al Ashkara, Al Qabil and Al Mudhaibi, according to the website for Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, which is funding 36% of the total project cost with the Omani government providing the rest.

The projects aims to meet the current demand deficit for drinking water and future needs up to the year 2040 in the North and South Al Sharqiyah Governorates by laying transmission lines to transport desalinated water from the Al Sur and the under construction Al Ashkhara plants, the website noted.
