All the stages to provide district cooling services to Cityland Mall, at Dubai’s Global Village have been completed.

With an investment of $40.8mn (AED150m) and a cooling capacity of 14,000RT, the plant is being developed by Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower).

Cityland Mall will feature more than 350 retail outlets, unique dining options, a variety of entertainment offerings, and an 18.58km2 ‘Central Park’ botanical garden that will form the centre of the single-storey circular-shaped mall.

“The use of district cooling services in major projects contributes to reducing carbon emissions from energy consumption,” said Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO, Empower.

“We are happy to be working for this huge project and providing it with environmentally-friendly district cooling services. This reflects the cognizance of developers and customers on the importance of sustainability and environmental conservation.”
