Honeywell (NYSE: HON), a global technology leader, has announced the launch of a new smart lighting solution for the hospitality sector.
The INNCOM Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) module is a two-way communication system that enables the digitalization of LED and non-LED lighting across a hotel property for flexible and reliable control, energy efficient operations, predictive maintenance and customizable lighting settings.
The new system is differentiated from existing DALI offerings in terms of features and functionality, while being more cost-effective to deploy.
“Across the region, facility managers and hotel operators are looking for ways to further enhance guest experience through the deployment of smart technologies while also reducing energy costs. Lighting accounts for a large percentage of energy consumption in hotels, and Honeywell’s INNCOM DALI system enables full control over a hotel’s lighting systems from a centralized interface,” said Corentin Soistier, general manager for Honeywell, Building Management Systems, Middle East, Turkey and Africa.
Based on international standards, the INNCOM DALI system can be integrated on network or non-networked based systems that enable full visibility and control over lighting in smart buildings.
The hardwired and wireless technology is a successor to 0-10V and phase dimming lighting control systems and employs a digital transmission signal, minimizing transmission errors with inbuilt RF (Radio Frequency) that can work both for new buildings and retrofit projects.
The DALI system is easily coupled with INNCOM’s traditional products for group settings and scenes.
INNCOM DALI enhances guest experiences in hospitality settings by offering customizable scenes featuring color lighting and tunable white variable color temperature controls.
The system also allows bi-directional communication between DALI equipment as well as energy management and guestroom control platforms such as INNcontrol to receive error codes and trigger alarms.
These alarms include faulty ballast, faulty luminaire, communication failures and high run-time alerts. Bi-directional communication also allows error codes to be received from DALI products, a predictive maintenance function that can inform operators when specific lights are at risk of failure or have failed, a feature that traditional lighting control systems do not support.
